Fox's Wedding by The Hag (Gen)

Why this must be read: The Hag is another of my absolute favourite Pros writers; her stories are mostly short and gentle, and always full of lovely, subtle observations.
I love Fox's Wedding because it's a story about George Cowley, the private man behind the power, the temper, and the acid tongue. This Cowley is a man who no longer speaks to his God, but nevertheless goes to church to listen.
It's a beautifully constructed little story that doesn't take long to read, but stays with you like a warm hug on a cold day. Please, enjoy!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it too, and thank you for letting me know.
Making recs on the van feels like preaching to the choir *g*, but I'm working on the theory that it's nice to reminded about things you haven't perhaps read in a while... plus I'm having such fun rooting around through the things I've enjoyed and re-reading them.

I love The Hag's writing, but this is the one of hers that stands out for me - I'm so glad you enjoyed it too, and that it was new to you.
With so many years of recs of the van, I'm almost bound to suggest something that's really well-known and been recced before - but I love to be reminded myself, so fingers crossed I'll be forgiven *g*
