Why this must be read: Although Judge John Deed isn't my favourite character, LilyK has such a wonderful light touch I found myself grinning as Deed and Bodie meet up again after many years, and under difficult circumstances. The bickering and sniping is wonderfully done, Deed's bitching it totally in character, and Bodie's methods of dealing with him are perfect.

The first time I read this way back when, I found it lingered pleasantly in my mind long afterwards. LilyK handles them both so well, and with such humour, it's impossible not to enjoy, and come back to read it again. I hope you give it a go, and that it makes you smile as much as I still do.

I struggle to like Deed in fiction, but in LilyK's story he gets nicely balanced by a Bodie who knows how to handle him and won't back down. I do hope you enjoy it too *beams* (and that all the links work, because I was posting just as LJ was doing a swoon!)

I'd never seen this! What fun! I like the premise, and the banter is good. I waver about Deed as a character and have probably avoided fics including him in the past because of that. But this was a nice read. What's the betting Bodie is the one to finally tame him?

I'm much the same - I'm not fond of Deed, though I've watched JJD because it's MS, and he's obviously having great fun playing the role. I liked this particular story though because of the wonderfully strong Bodie who's more than equal to dealing with Deed's behaviour - and yes! I just bet Bodie would end up getting his own way *g*

Deed is a bastard and a cad in canon. It's hard to like him but I have this soft spot for him, as did every women who met him in the series. :)

I so agree - I have such mixed feeling for Deed in canon - he's a bastard, but he's also charming, and MS seems to be having a great time with him. I want to dislike him, and end up hunting for redeeming features instead.

There are only about two fics I can think of that make me warm to Deed, and yours is the one I enjoy because of the lovely way you handle the balance between Bodie and Deed. And they're still bickering at one another *g*
