Why this must be read: This fic isn't exactly seasonal at the moment, but I was out of town for Crossover Day and wanted to make sure y'all got to read it, because it's hilarious and heartwarming and straight-up musical. It's [livejournal.com profile] stillscape at her finest and most crack-tastic, and if you don't come out smiling, well, there's not much I can do to help you.

Half an hour later, Ben arrives in the conference room with emergency brainstorming rations: fruit salad for Ann, five side orders of bacon for Ron, and waffles for everyone else.

He’s still there two hours later, in the middle of a very heated brainstorming session, when he suddenly thinks he sees a large frog standing in the conference room door.

It must be because of stress, right? That sort of thing had happened before, after all, like when he’d thought he’d seen a bird in Perd Hapley’s studio. Although when he’d seen the bird, it had been a normal, ordinary bird. But Leslie’s pulled off amazing projects in practically no time before. In fact, she does that a lot. He’s hardly worried about her ability to organize an entire Christmas show in less than eight hours; she can do anything, especially with the rest of the department behind her…

Maybe after seventeen years of borderline feeling like crap most of the time, he’s just not mentally equipped to handle being so stupidly in love, and the frog is a sign that he’s become unhinged somehow? No, that can’t be right.

Maybe he really is more worried about not having a job than he thought, or he’s subconsciously freaking out about not knowing what kind of job he wants…that seems more likely.

Ben blinks hard a couple of times. The frog is still there.

So maybe he’s not seeing things after all. He glances around the room. Every single person is staring at the doorway, and they all look slightly shaken, even April and Ron.

“Hi ho,” says the frog, politely. It’s about three feet tall, standing upright, and carrying a banjo. “Um, I’m sorry to interrupt your meeting, but I was wondering if I could have a moment of your time?”

After a few moments of stunned silence, Leslie snaps to attention and jumps to her feet. “Yes,” she says, stepping forward. “Yes. Hello. I’m Leslie Knope.”

The frog walks (hops? It’s hard to see the frog’s legs and Ben isn’t sure whether or not a specific word for describing the gait of a frog exists) over to Leslie, and shakes her hand. “Please to meet you, Ms. Knope. I’m Kermit.”

Just wanted to say thank you for doing an amazing job. I love Parks and Rec but had never read any fic, and your recs were wonderful.
