Why this must be read: - Blair is en route to a seminar in Boston when his plane goes down in a thunderstorm, with no survivors. Some two months later, Simon is visited by a couple who have been on holiday; they've just caught up with all the local news, and claim that in Colorado they met a young man who, they are sure, is Blair.

Much of the story is exploring Jim's reactions to everything, and is very realistically handled.

Jet is an excellent writer whose work doesn't seem to be recommended very much. It's well worth looking at some of her other stories
