Stealing Home by Sandy Herrold (Teen and up)

Firstly, many apologies for going missing.  I had to pull into a layby to try and fix the laptop, then fail, then go and buy a new laptop, then - Windows 8.  Need I say more?  Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS
Pairing: Bodie/Doyle
Length: 15,147 words
Why this must be read: This is a lovely view of the partnership between Bodie and Doyle, and how one old friend of Bodie's can upset the applecart.  We see Doyle learning more about Bodie - and getting it wrong, sometimes: "It was so far from what he’d expected, he was reminded again how little he knew Bodie at times ".  We also see Doyle almost getting into a spot of trouble with Bodie's friend Jerry, prompting some classic Doyle self-analysis and angst.  How our lads manage to extricate themselves from all the misunderstandings, and how they get together, is beautifully told with flashes of humour and a good descriptive turn of phrase.  I was a bit surprised to find that this hasn't been recced here before - at least, not that I can find. Even if it has, it's some time ago, so I do hope you enjoy this as much as I do.                   Stealing Home

Oh yes, I like this one too! It's fun seeing Bodie through Jerry's eyes - and I do rather like seeing Doyle as someone looking on and wondering, too... *g*

(According to the list at Palelyloitering (http://www.palelyloitering.com/Reviews/ReviewsAtCrackVan.htm) it was recced by Birgitt, but I've not got all the links up yet, so I couldn't tell you when I'm afraid... But I've been wondering about reccing older fics again myself - I wonder how many people actually go back through the old recs, rather than just enjoying what comes up in their flists at the time...)

I think you've been reading my mind as I've just been reacquainting myself with this story. I really like the author's work and wish they'd written more.

Thanks for the rec!

Great choice, the first piece of slash fiction I read was by this author. I loved her web page, it was my introduction to fandom.

I saw [livejournal.com profile] sherrold around when I first showed up, and considered her one of the eminences grises of the fandom. I was really sorry I never got to speak to her (too intimidated at the time, I guess). But I never really read any of her fic before.

Thanks for posting this, and giving me a start to catching up on her work.

Thank you for reminding me about this one - I haven't read it in ages *bookmarks*, and thanks for struggling on with the recs in spite of the technical difficulties... Ah, Windows 8; you have my sincere sympathy. *g*
