Trying to explain a CLAMP series to a non-fan is impossible and you'll poke out an eye trying. Suffice it to say it's one of the cornerstone groups of "modern" manga, features very pretty characters doomed to angsty endings, and every series is somehow entwined with the other. XXXholic is my favorite work (and there is only one series that was not crossed over with any other concurrent series, and I've deleted the anime from my brain). In all seriousness, CLAMP is a group that evokes strong reactions from its readers and many differing opinions.
Convention is a strong, original-series oneshot "case fic" that reads like one of the earlier adventures in XXXHolic. I'm reccing it for a general audience since it is set at a fan convention and there's cosplay and all kinds of cute little tidbits of fan culture. I love the characterization of Watanuki and Doumeki - it's pitch perfect in their Abbott and Costello way... Watanuki's histrionics (or sass, if you prefer) are balanced by Doumeki's straight man. This is just a fun fic that made me smile.

"Yet another pearl of perception from the Master of All That is Blindingly Apparent. Yes. Very good." This was accompanied by an eye roll and heartfelt sigh. "Can we just get this over with?"
