Why this must be read:
Since I'm a relative newcomer to TS fandom, I'm always interested in stories that were written during the series' first run, and this is a great one. Described as "Cinderella, Sentinel style", it was originally posted to 852 in December, 1996, but now lives on AO3 thanks to the 852 migration earlier this year. Despite it having been written just after the first season, Jim and Blair's characters feel very solid and very true to how I see them today after all four seasons. And although Jim ends up coming to Blair's rescue, after a fashion, this is still a scrappy Blair who's capable of taking care of himself.

One benefit of the 852 migration to AO3 is that it's super easy to give feedback to some of those early TS writers. So check this story and the rest of the collection out, and let the authors know if you liked their stories!
