Why this must be read: It’s one of Brighid’s startlingly lovely “fairy tales”. In this one, she’s woven the episode “Cypher” with elements of Snow White. This seems particularly appropriate, since both the episode and the fairy tale are both darkly magical.

I rarely re-read stories because there’s always so much out there that I haven’t read even once. Every time I come back to Brighid’s stories, I’m struck again with just how talented she is.

What a wonderful story - completely magical and dark, dark, until we get to that lovely final scene. It's a very perceptive retelling of Cypher and so lyrical. Thank you so much for this rec! I have seen Brighid's stories recced before but couldn't find her work - maybe it has recently moved over to AO3? - whatever, I shall go and look further!

I like the dark, magical feel to this piece and how the story bounces between Lash and Blair, of course the ending is my favourite part, so tender and loving. Thanks for another lovely rec.
