Back Room Blues by Saraid (NC-17)

Hi, I'm kernel and I'm glad to be at the wheel again. I'm planning to end the month with some lighter, holiday season stories but first, in the interest of a balanced diet I am going to kick off with some angst.

Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Length: 21,9700 words
Author on LJ: Not Known
Author's website: http://www.wf.net/~gofboats/TSindex.htm
and on AO3
(but this one isn't up there)

Why this must be read: I just love "what if's?" What if Blair never got the message from his nurse friend in the pilot? This AU starts a few years after Jim's senses have come online. He has had to give up his job and uses drugs to control his senses. He is barely able to leave the loft and depends on Simon for his survival. At this low point he encounters Blair in a gay bar. There is rough sex and some non con elements but all ends happily.

Great story if a bit darker Jim than what we might be used to. Terrific rec to end your wonderful month!

You know, I think I came across this story a while back and didn't read it as I was a bit put off by the scenario. But acting on your rec I now have and am very glad I did. This was a very intriguing read. The rough bits are certainly quite shocking, used as we are to canon!Jim, but I think the whole thing has been thought through so well, you can just see that Jim missing his chance to meet Blair could easily have taken that steep descent into a complete non-functioning mess. It all felt very real (if, TBH, the whole g*y-bar scenario didn't quite..., to me), and the "belonging together" stuff was successfully done without mawkishness. Simon's little bit of jealousy was also a nice touch. Thanks for the rec!
