Hi, my name is Muccamukk, and I'll be driving the van for Quantum Leap this month. Since I'm the first QL driver, I hope to give a good representation of the fandom, though I must admit to tending towards Sam/Al and Sam&Al. However, before I get into the angsty Sam/Al goodness, have some angsty Al/Beth goodness!

Why this must be read:
The end of the series says that Sam fixed Al and Beth's relationship by telling her to wait, and he did, but consider how difficult it would have been to wait for another six years, with no real evidence but a stranger's word. This is Beth's story from the last scene in "Mirror Image" though Al's repatriation.
I love all of Azar's fic, but think this is an especially nice example, especially in terms of characterisation and structure. We really get a feel for the passing of the years, little bits of hope here and there, and a nice call back to the Vietnam episode. There's also a follow up ficlet, Never Fully Repay, which deals with what would happen further down the road for these two, and Sam as well.
