Why this must be read:

The Fringe fandom tends to do gender in fics in the form of bodyswaps or temporary gender switch sometimes, but this ficlet is the only one I've read so far Fringe-wise dealing with the idea one of the characters could be transgender. It is an interesting look at both Olivia's in the light of that idea, which packs a lot into its brief space.

Hi. Thanks for the list, will check it out. Maybe for clarity I should add it's not that I don't see ever fic about trans characters - BBC Sherlock fandom I am also part of seems to have a fair amount - just that this is the only one I've come across for the Fringe fandom in particular, though I would hope there may be more Fringe fic with trans characters/issues in that I just haven't yet found.

It seems like there's not a lot of Fringe fic in general. You could ask monanotlisa on Dreamwidth - she has been following the fandom for a while, and she has many great recs. You may also find interesting stuff in one of the searches I linked. Dreamwidth, I'm sure you know, has an advanced search where you can combine a fandom with a search tag. Because I came to Fringe so late, I haven't been reading the stuff that pops up because most of it is so full of spoilers. I'm eagerly awaiting the day that I watch the finale, though.

I had a look through the lists you recommended (as well as searching on Ao3) and didn't see any transfic for Fringe other than this one by anivad. I wasn't aware of the DW search like you mention can be done, so I will definitely try that and see if I can find any that way. I suppose in comparison to other fandoms the small amount of fic could explain it but I will ask monanotlisa if she knows of any others with this theme in Fringe. Thanks once again for the list recs for transfics as I've been enjoying several fics from other fandoms from those today.

I hope your Fringe watching goes well, there's good fic about but you are wise to wait until after the finale to read as it can be hard to avoid spoilers (and summaries often are sadly) - I know I managed to spoil myself more than a tad when I went looking for fic after getting mid way in S4 earlier this year.
