Why this must be read:
SG-1's robot doubles are excellent story fodder. I was so upset at the end of "Tin Man" when it seemed the writers were going to leave this team of explorers trapped for an eternity of android immortality on Harlan's little world. Fortunately the writers did bring them back, for "Double Jeopardy," though they settled their problem by killing them off. Merry does us the ultimate favor of bringing them back to life in a short story both amusing and poignant.

She neatly negotiates around having two of everybody in the same scene and provides excellent team chemistry, especially in the Jack-and-Daniel banter department. (Is everyone noticing a theme in what I like?) It's chock-full of touching character moments - make you laugh and feel a little misty-wistful all at the same time.

Jack looked at the other Jack, his eyebrows climbing. This was something he could respect. "You've got Daniel Jackson in your head?" And it's not exploding?

His horror conveyed what he didn't say. "No, no," the other Jack assured him. "Not all of him. My brain would explode."
