Why this must be read:
The author calls this "a thematic sequel" to Night Touch, which I recced here a couple of years ago. While she says it can be read simply as a post-ep to "En Ami," I think this story makes more emotional sense if they are read sequentially. If you are the kind of MSR reader who likes traditional romance a là Paula Graves etc., you might want to skip them both. However, I think this incisive story perfectly captures the emotional fall-out from that seventh season episode. Her characterization of Dana Scully is particularly insightful, but she's got Mulder nailed down, too.
