As much as Nate/Elena is the big pairing in this fandom, the kind who seem made for each other by a lot of people's standards, it doesn't usually come easy and this story typifies the trouble they have. Here it recognises the conflict Elena could feel about the pull of Nate and adventuring versus real life and a meaningful, long lasting, existence. The parallels they draw in this about growing up/not growing up and it being rather like a fairytale work particularly well.
