Why this must be read:
Because it is a beautifully complex look at what Nate/Chloe could have been like. It's a little fun, a little sweet but quite a bit heartbreaking too. I love how the author takes what could be a throwaway line and a tiny detail in Nate's journal, both from UC2, and has built that into such a nuanced representation of them together to fill in canon gaps set before that game for parts of their history we'll probably never know any more for. I felt like this really enhanced what we know of the characters in game without any subversion of canon at all, just slotting in there.
