The Coming Out Fic by bitterchick - PG13

Why this must be read:
JC came out in Houston, TX.
Of all the cities to come out of the closet, Houston wasn't the most obvious choice. Nothing about the great state of Texas had ever particularly screamed pride parades and rainbow flags to JC.
Then again, he didn't actually make a choice.
Over the years, JC had considered what it would be like to reveal his sexual identity to the world. His musings had led to three possible scenarios:
1. The Conscious Decision. He would pick the time and place and issue a press release or give an interview and just tell the world.
2. The Tabloid Revelation. The usual. Sordid headlines complete with grainy photos. Big scandal. Ugly press.
3. The General Realization After the Fact. Years in the future, after NSYNC was nothing more than a 12-second sound byte on VH-1's "Where Are They Now?", JC would be living his life as an openly gay man. It would be widely known and no longer a secret but, since it happened after fame and fortune, no one would particularly care. Like that dude from Sixteen Candles who disappeared off the face of the Earth. Someone had told JC that he was living in Connecticut, making furniture for a living or something. And that he was openly gay.
At no time in JC's musings, did he ever plan for Scenario #4:
Self-Outing by Accident.
