The Stuff of Legends, by Nicola Mody
Fandom: BLAKES 7
Pairing: none
Author on LJ:
vilakins
Author Website: http://www.farsight.net.nz/
Why this must be read:
This one (like, I suspect, most stories worth reading) is hard to define. Mostly, it's a fairy story, and all the good things about them too, but it's a lot more besides. There are too few cool fics like this; lovely, warm reads, the kind that's perfect for the times when you want something reassuring and friendly and life-affirming. Yay.
Apart from anything else, it's a far-above-average character piece for all concerned. Most fics have at least one of the crew seemingly devoid of life, but not here, and it's a welcome change. Even characters who are normally neglected in fanfic get fleshed out enough to actually feel the pull of gravity. Fancy that!
You ought to be warned, though, that the author's love for Vila is blatantly obvious from the word go. I like Vila, so seeing him treated well and given the star part for once makes me happy, but I believe there are some of you out there who think he's an annoying, whiny little git, so you may want to avoid this. :) I do like seeing a non-stupid Vila who's more than just the butt of Avon's jokes, I must say. Aww, Vila.
Hmm, what else... oh yeah. Read it. :P
