Why this must be read:
Well, I've been really nervous about recommending this story. Guess that's why I've put off rec'ing it until the last moment. But I looked through the community's memories and it's not all that different from some of the other stories listed for other fandoms which include BDSM themes, and I'm warning all over this one, and giving away more in the labels below for each part.
Adult content. Domestic abuse. Rape. And yeah, a lot of tears. Genma is just not a good person in this story, especially in part one.
As far as I know, this story was a first for the fandom in a lot of ways, including not just the abuse issues but also for its portrayal of Ranma's bisexuality and the tug-of-war between Ryouga and Akane for him.
Ryouga should have been here two days ago. Ranma knew that it was a mistake to let him run home by himself instead of just coming here and getting his things and leaving then, but he thought that it would be all right, that his father would remain calm and sober long enough for Ryouga to actually make his way back to this empty lot.
It was a foolish hope. Ranma knew that, now. With a rough hand, he brushed away the tears still streaming down his face. Tomorrow. They were leaving tomorrow. Maybe Ryouga would be here by then.
The second part of the story picks up during one of Ryouga's usual confrontations with Ranma later in canon.
"Oyaji SAW us, Ryouga. That day in the park when we were playin' around, y'know, and you reached for my hand while I was walkin' you home." Ranma lifted his chin and his eyes, glacial now as he recounted the old story. "It wasn't just a beatin' that time, Ryouga."
And then there's Akane's experimentation with bondage. And Ryouga's jealous rage, somehow transformed into Ranma's first heterosexual experience in girl-form. And then an incredible threesome scene.
Ranma closed his eyes as the evening breeze brushed against him, caressing his arms and his face, lightly blowing the hair away from his face...and then he felt them, one on either side, warmth where before there was none.
If you're interested in this sort of thing, Father Figure was unique during the mid-nineties of Ranma fandom online, and it was written during a particularly lemony (adult sexual content) phase of the few epicenters of writing activity at the time. And yes, if you're into this sort of story, it's really hot.
