Strange Days by Lucy Hale
Fandom: Starsky and Hutch
Pairing: Starsky/Hutch
Fic Link: http://www.squirreltail.net/lucyhale/strange.html
Why this must be read: Your partner says he's giving up women...and then things get weird. Lucy weaves stories so well that you don't realize how far you've come until you're looking back at the end. The story's a layered case story, but the issues going on with the boys are integrated so well that you don't even consciously realize how far you've come. It's a natural progression.
“A V and an a. Two Is and an M. V, an I, and an r.” Hutch frowned at the small notepad. “I just. I can’t see the pattern. It’s got to mean something, but…”
Starsky leaned back in his chair. “Kissing,” he replied after a moment.
Hutch regarded the paper for a moment. “Kiss…what?”
Starsky nodded to himself. “Kissing. Kissing is nice. You’re gonna miss kissing.”
Hutch stared at him.
Starsky logic, it's a sight to see. These boys are not stiff or one-sided. They're complicated and real and true to form. And when the case hits too close to home, they're scared and determined.
