Lumina Series by Kassie and Lar (NC-17)
Fandom: SMALLVILLE
Pairing: Clark/Lex
Authors on LJ:
obsessedmuch and
ethrosdemon
Author Website: Obsessed Much and Biblioteque Diabolique
Why this must be read:
Shine, Neon, and Bonfire are old favorites, and when I first read them, I was taken with this sympathetic, realistic portrayal of the pains of adolescence. Clark is so confused in these stories, and that fits the emotions I saw in Clark in the first two seasons. The Lex in this series is both less likable and recognizable, and he seems appropriately young; writers who make Lex seem like a 40 year old in a twentysomething's body annoy me. Lex in Smallville is still figuring out who he is and what he wants, and it's clear in canon that Clark is part of those things, somehow essential to Lex from the start. I also found this trilogy sexy--the awkwardly hot first-time sex seemed very real.
