Why this must be read:
This is a h/c story that keeps the guys in character. That's tough to do, but Nix pulls it off. The premise is that Napoleon is disfigured by an acid-like substance while on a mission. Not a lot disfigured, but enough that it changes how people react to him, and how he reacts to people. This is a man who has always known that he was good looking and has used his looks to get everything from information from his enemies to a date for the night. Now that's been taken away and he has to learn how to deal with the world in a new way. Through it all Illya is there offering support in a very Illya-like way. I recognize these two guys. They react how I imagine they would. There isn't any major breakdown for Napoleon; just moments where he needs the support of a friend to get through, and Illya is there.
