Why this must be read:When Hope posted this, it made a lot of people cry. It was not uncommon for people to have to reread the ending a bunch of times in order to believe she really meant it. Hope is mean! I really don't want to tell you much else except that you should read it anyway, despite the tearstain warning.
This is a response to the unofficial "Five Things That Aren't True" challenge that was started by a (fabulous) story posted bybasingstoke long, long ago (go read that one, too, if you haven't already). Most of the "Five Things" stories that I've seen--including the original--have consisted of five separate vignettes all connected simply by the fact that they are not true. Although Hope may have intended it otherwise, I've always read The Fifth Season as being a consistent, alternate Jonathan, i.e., these five things do indeed go together.
This Jonathan is missing a lot and he doesn't even know it.
