Cut Time Adagio by E.L. (G)
Hi, I'm Megan, and I'll be driving for Firefly this month. I'm mostly a lurker, so I'm excited but a little bit nervous to be behind the wheel.
Fandom: FIREFLY
Pairing: none (Simon and River, gen)
Author on LJ: unknown
Author Website: unknown
Why this must be read:
This vignette, written while the series was still on the air, takes a look at one way River can haunt the people around her, and through this inflicts a tiny, plausible piece of terror on Simon. E.L.'s portrayal of Simon and River's relationship rings true to how their relationship was on the show. Here, Simon is struggling with a mix of feelings--guilt and fear, disappointment and devotion--all while navigating the bewildering push-and-pull of his new relationship with his sister and trying to adjust to life on Serenity. This story subtly demonstrates the side of Simon that I loved most on the show: even with potential tragedy staring him straight in the face, he is still fiercely determined to face the tests and obstacles with all his strength and love.
