The Waiting Room Affair by Debra Hicks (PG)

Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS/MAN FROM UNCLE
Pairing: Bodie/Doyle, Kuryakin/Solo
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Unknown

Why this must be read

This is the first in a trilogy of stories.Please do follow the links at the end of each story to read the next as the other two are wonderful. This story has a meeting between Solo and Doyle in a hospital, as they anxiously wait for news of their partner's conditions.It's a wistful,beautiful, bittersweet fic, with great characterisations of both Solo and Doyle. And the setting feels intimate.The relationship between both sets of partners is really nicely shown, despite it only featuring half of each. Really please read these three stories. My favourite is actually the final one, "People Bending Broken Rules," but you need to read all three to enjoy them properly, so I'm reccing the first one for that reason.

I first came across them when I began reading Man From UNCLE and hadn't even heard of The Professionals.

Now that I'm totally enamored of both shows, I can see how truly wonderful these three linked fics are. Great rec!

Great call! (In fact, I think I was unintentionally channelling you yesterday among my own LJ recs (http://www.livejournal.com/users/eldritchhobbit/2004/10/12), as you can see.) I'm so glad you're pointing readers to this wonderful series. I look forward to more posts from you!

No, not at all! I really enjoyed your post, and I'm anxious to see what other great stories you highlight. I know what you mean, BTW, about the slash element. Once you've read "People Bending Broken Rules," it's hard not to look back on the first two and see slash everywhere! I guess it's technically "pre-slash," eh? Anyway, it's a joy to "meet" a like-minded reader, and I look forward to reading more from you. Thanks so much for bringing the spotlight to bear Our Lads! {{applause}}
