The Strange Case of the House at Hollinport by Russ (PG)

Sincere apologies for the lack of LotR recommendations earlier this month, my cock up. Anyway, better late than never, eh?

Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: Not as far as I'm aware
Author's Website: None, but Russ's work is archived at The Burping Troll collaborative site
Why this must be read:

This Fourth Age tale is one of the most unusual LotR-inspired fiction I've ever encountered. Written in the style of Poe or Lovecraft, it kicks off from the quotation 'There are older and fouler things than orcs in the deep places of the world.' from FotR. The author displays a gift for atmosphere, and there's great slow-building tension as the mystery unfolds. Russ isn't well known in the fandom, but this story really should be.
