Why this must be read: For my last rec, I wanted to share one of Max's stories - she is without a doubt my favorite author in this fandom, and this is my favorite story of hers. I didn't rec it before because it takes some familiarity with the mechanics of the Farscape universe to truly appreciate, especially the peculiarities of Sebacean biology.
This is a brilliant, subtle story that reads like a lyrical, slightly dreamy love story on the surface. At 8K, it's short enough to seem simplistic. But it's the kind of story you'll walk away from, and minutes or hours or days later, you'll realize something was slightly skewed about it, and you'll reread it with a sharper eye. At that point, the high HSQ factor ("holy shit quotient") kicks in.
