Ryan is one of Seth’s vital organs. Seth’s going to die without him, and it’s easier to run away than to sit around and watch the making of his own corpse.
This story is set post-season one, when Ryan has left Newport for Chino and Seth, in a fit of ultimate slashiness, decides to take off on his catamaran for Tahiti--because what does he have to stay for?
Zahra can tell a story in fragmented parts that make a whole, and this story in particular rang with me as a story where Seth's state of mind feeds the structure of the story, and the structure illustrates Seth's state of mind. All nice and circle-y.
