Why this must be read:
They were due to cover the Beats at the end of the month. A whole unit devoted to a subject that Seth could discuss without tripping over his tongue. An entire two weeks of Naked Lunch and Burroughs, Kerouac and Mexico City Blues. A chunk of his grade based around essays he could write in his sleep and homework-less nights, since he'd already done the required reading six times over. It was going to be perfect. So, yep, he was effectively screwed. Because when things had the potential to go *that* well, they would inevitably be screwed up. It was Murphy's Law, which was really just a fancy name for the I Was Born A Cohen Law.
This story is cute and funny and very reminiscent of the show in its non-melodramatic moments. I love the Seth voice, all dorky indignation and tampered gayness. Ryan is a little lighter than we normally see him on the show, which is often a nice change of pace. Ryan can be a downer, ya'll.
I like this particular fic because its a blend of rapid-fire dialogue, inner Seth-voice, good characterisations, and scenes that are easy to imagine in the show. Also, substitutes in high school often did suck. As a bonus, there's hot kissing too. In a closet, no less.
