This is a moody little story which finds Dan and Casey in a situation they don't really comprehend but are powerless to avoid.

Dan and Casey are sleeping together but it's not a situation they're entirely comfortable with. Yet they keep doing it almost because they have to. They never speak about it, they rarely speak while they do it, and outside those intimate encounters they hardly acknowledge that it's happening. But it is happening and unspoken or not, they want it to keep on happening.

Helen has a wonderful way with these characters, expertly displaying their confusion and anguish and need. Told from Casey's POV, this is not the happiest of stories. There's a bleakness about it. A bleakness that's reflected in the way Casey views this aspect of his relationship with Dan. But he won't change it. He can't. So it remains unspoken, and that's the way is has to be.
