Hello children! I'm Maddi, and I shall be the driver for the pretty navy boy fandom for this month of December. I got into the fandom last year, because college students like to sit around and watch boys play on ships. Naturally I dove into reading fic headfirst, and I have found many wonderful things. I'm going to say right off that I am a Horatio/Archie shipper mostly, but I am not adverse to other pairings. So I will be rec'ing Horatio Hornblower/Archie Kennedy as well as other pairings too (such as Horatio/Archie/William Bush, or any combination of the three). But for now, on to the important part - the fic:
Fandom: HORNBLOWER
Pairing: Horatio Hornblower/Archie Kennedy first time
Author on LJ:
misskittie79
Author Website: Miss Kittie's HH Slash
Why this must be read:
On her own summary before the fic, misskittie says that, "Shortly after the Muzillac/Mareitte debacle, Horatio mourns his purely theoretical heterosexuality."
This is one of the sweetest first time fics of this fandom that I have ever read. It is incredibly in character, and the two of them venture into the relationship we as readers all want them to have with such realistic hesitation and naivete that raw emotion of it comes through so well. But what truly holds the story together and makes it what it is, is the horseback riding metaphor for the two of them and for the experience itself which weaves its way in and out throughout the whole thing.
