Major Crimes by Merry (NC-17)

Why this must be read: This time there is no outside event pushing them together, just a critical mass of feelings that cannot be denied any longer. Once again, all about characterization and a nice smutty ending too. This story hits a lot of Sentinel cliches, but only in a good way.

Blair deals with the situation by running away, Jim is slow to react but once he does there is no stopping him. There's a pool on when they will get together, and the other guys are not surprised to see them together, only about where they got caught. There is a bit of angst, because Jim and Blair can't do anything the easy way, but the humor never disappears even in the most heated moments.

And I have to quote some things. Because when I think of this story, it's these lines that pop into my head, and make me frantic to remember what story they are from.

"You know, there are women who would walk across broken glass to hear me say that."
"Key word there is 'women', Chief!" ...
... "The men would walk across broken women."

"I promise not to fold, spindle, or mutilate you."
"I'm also against stapling and having things affixed to me with paper clips."
"We can talk about your kinks at home, Sandburg."

"I'm not going to start beating up people who make fun of you, Sandburg," Jim interrupted in a tone that brooked no discussion. "The hours suck, there's no money in it, and I already have a full time job."
