Why this must be read: Another bittersweet tale. Isildur/Elrond is a favorite pairing of mine simply because their love is doomed to fail. I also love the concept of Isildur having to have chosen between love and power and making the wrong choice. This piece is simply breathtaking in its language and imagery. The foreshadowing is truly what gets to me though. I really need to stop recommending such sad stories.
