Forgive me, I have an almost insurmountable aversion to X-Files; if there's anything I'm less reluctant to touch than X-Files fiction, it's X-Files/Highlander crossovers.
"Waters of Life and Death," which I'm not rec'ing here primarily because it is an X-Files/Highlander crossover and I have another rec in mind for my one crossover rec, is a remarkable piece of writing; it's a marvelously nonlinear, non-poisonously pomo hunka hunka burning stuff.
What I am recommending here are the codas to "Waters," a group of illuminating snippets that loosen the story's seams and add buttons and sleeves and a codpiece or two. These are Highlander story bits, about Methos and Kronos, Duncan, Darius, and others. I love this format. I think they're brilliant. With or without "Waters," give them a try.

I feel a little silly taking credit for good recs -- most of these are celebrated gems that just haven't shown up here yet. I'm hoping they'll entertain and entice new readers.

(Anonymous) 2005-02-20 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)I'm eagerly awaiting your crossover rec. My favorite? Probably China by torch. Yes...an XF/HL story :-) But with such a great Methos.
