Why this must be read:
A searing and sometimes brutal portrayal of the aftermath of battle, this story grabs you from the opening lines and refuses to let go. Bashir was seriously wounded in "The Siege of AR-558"; this is his first person account of what happened next, as both doctor and patient, through horrifying pain, suffering, hallucinations and the sheer will to survive. It's sometimes graphic and frequently disturbing, and leaves the reader profoundly affected.
This story is also noteworthy for introducing the OC Alex Sawalha who is featured prominently in other stories by The Snow Leopard. They are highly recommended as well.
