Why this must be read:
Because it hurts so good (Angst of this caliber is not my usual fare). This story does contain some spoilers for "Loyalty" (which will be shown in the U.S. in one week and a few hours change from right now. I can't wait.) so those who wish to be unspoilt may want to wait until after they've seen the movies. This is a harder Horatio -- the deaths of friends haunt him still, and he's not totally certain he deserves to find happiness or solace.
As I haven't seen "Loyalty" and "Duty" yet, I can't speak of exactly how true this characterization is to the movie canon, but she makes my heart ache even more for Horatio and Bush. I wanted to give Bush a hug after I finished reading this. Better yet, Horatio should -- it would do us all a world of good *g*
