Macellum, by Sylvia (PG-13)
Title: Macellum
Fandom: Smallville
Pairing: Clark/Lex...kind of. Not really.
Author on LJ:

Author website: Worlds Enough
Why you *must* read this: I was hesitant about reccing this here, truthfully. It's a difficult story to fully get all the facets of if you're not a SV fan, but this one is so worth any confusion you could possibly have. Essentially, "Macellum" is a piece where Clark Kent (Lian here), is raised by one Lionel Luthor instead of Jonathan and Martha Kent. It turns out that I have a huge love for inversion fics like this and "Macellum" will cause you to have one too.
I'm also being selfish with this rec--the story is beautifully open ended and I very much want for more people to write to her and tell her how incredible the story was and just beg for a sequel.
And now, a teaser....
Lex's favorite Porsche plowing you straight through an iron guardrail and off a bridge. More than that, tearing the car open with your bare hands to drag Lex out, cold and still and blue-lipped and not breathing -
And more than even that, feeling his heart begin to beat again beneath your hands, listening to his first shallow, tortured breath, having Lex come back to you to bitch about how you forgot to take the precautions that really should have been second nature by now, that - to a real Luthor - should have been as instinctive as... breathing.
Perspective. In a big way.
