First of all, if you've never read anything by Sleeps With Coyotes you are in for such a treat, because her writing is, well, beautiful. And perfect. If you've read her, you know. So go read this! I can't say too much about it without spoiling, but her own summary is, of course, perfect.

I think I can give It's a good hand, strong but with a certain elegance that shouldn't surprise Will like it does. He's seen those hands cutting delicate shapes in the air, sliding in a lover's caress over the wheel of the Pearl, but a man's hands aren't supposed to be beautiful like this, ragged nails and all. His callused thumb strokes Jack's rough palm and he realizes he's tired of waiting.

"Will," Jack says, his voice barely audible over the din of the tavern. Dragging his eyes up to Jack's face, he feels his gut clench on a fist of ice as Jack's frighteningly sober expression penetrates, the usual cocky grin completely absent from the other man's face. "I don't think you want to do this."

But oh God, he does, he really, really does.

Now that's the Jack he knows, cheerful and irreverent and unutterably sure of himself. And the bastard's been holding out on him, because this time--this time Jack doesn't hold back with him, and God, curse or not, losing this would be enough to make anyone bitter. He'd melt right into the ground if he wasn't so busy writhing into every touch, his voice hoarse from babbling utter nonsense with a reverence neither the Church nor the king has ever inspired in him. without spoiling.
