Title: Quicksand by Thamiris
Pairing: Clark/Remus, Remus/Clark/Lex, Lex/Clark, implied Remus/Sirius
Author on LJ: Thamiris' Glossolalia
Author Website: Odysseys and Ecstasy
Why this must be read:
Thamiris' summary starts, "Lex boards the plane with a single suitcase and a hundred ugly adjectives." Like all of her stories "Quicksand" is a literary tour de force, full of brilliant imagery, perfect characterizations, and more pathos than one billionaire playboy ought to be allowed. Arriving at the town from which Clark addressed his last postcard, the realization of Lex's worst fears appear in the form of one tired, grief-sore werewolf and a college-bound Clark who grew tired of waiting for Lex to be ready for him. These three emotional minefields in one little house hotly ache in all the right ways. Remus and Clark find ideal compliments in each other's unique brand of desperation, but while they temper each others' desires temporarily, neither can be what the other truly needs and Lex painfully, beautifully, and inevitably comes between them, sometimes quite literally. Excellent post OotP, post SV High look at where milestones in these characters' emotional lives may leave them.
