Why this must be read: There's something about the concept of betting that appeals to me - and Clark making outrageous bets with Pete seems to lead to a lot of interesting stories, two of which I'm rec'cing today. The excerpt will give you the basic premise, but I have to say what always gets me about this story is the pure sensuality of it, and with Tom Welling's beautiful features it's not a stretch to picture the results of the transformation Lex helps Clark with. This story isn't about the humour (which is perfectly in character) or even about the sex (which is everything we want for the boys), and it's not a story that feminizes Clark, although he's certainly getting in touch with his feminine side here. It's really about process and discovery, about seeing things in a different way, about taking a chance. It's amazingly sensuous - there's just no other word to describe it.
He turned his gaze back to see Lex looking intently at Pete, then focusing on Clark again. Better to jump in with both feet and not think too much, right? "Can we go back to your office? I don't really want to discuss this out here. It's a little embarrassing."
"So I gathered." Lex gave him one of those assessing looks, then smiled, standing up and gesturing with his head toward the arch that led to the back hallway. "By all means. Follow me."
When Lex's office door closed behind them, the finality of the sound shook Clark a little. Second thoughts springing up now that he wasn't being actively annoyed by Pete's smirk. Lex leaned against the desk, arms folding loosely as he waited for Clark to start talking.
The problem was that Clark couldn't seem to make his mouth form the words. He fiddled with the notebook in his hands -- the manual equivalent of stuttering in embarrassment, he supposed.
"Clark? Are you-"
"IlostabetwithPeteandhe'smakingmewritealettertoPenthouseForum."
Lex's brow shot up at the hastily muttered explanation. "That's some lung capacity you have there, Clark."
Clark sighed, dropping gracelessly into one of the office chairs. "I'm in hell. I've tried to write this thing and I just... can't."
Lex was silent for a few seconds before continuing, very un-Lex-like in his hesitation. "You *have* had sex, haven't you?"
Clark suppressed the urge to roll his eyes. He needed Lex's help, and acting pissy wasn't the most efficient way to get assistance. "I dated Jorden for over a year and a half before she left for college. What do you think, Lex?"
Lex tilted his head slightly. "Well, I'd assumed. It's just that if inexperience isn't the issue then I'm not following why this is such a problem."
"I didn't tell you the worst part yet." Clark buried his head in his hands. Pete was *so* dead. "Pete said I have to write it as a woman."
