Leaving Town by Cherry (R)
Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Author on LJ:
cherryice
Author Website: Cherry Bombs
Why this must be read:
I tend to like the happy due South stories, because a) I like feeling good after reading a story and b) there are so many happy dS stories. But the way Cherry handled this post-CotW breakup story was exactly the way I believe Ray and Fraser would break up, if things didn't work out. I've read stories that alluded to Ray not being able to deal with living up North or not being a cop, but this one seemed viscerally, palpably real, full of details that made me wince in empathy because I've been going through a divorce, and breakups are on my mind. Cherry made it hurt so good that I can't do more than wince.
(Cherry doesn't assign her stories ratings; I gave this one an R for language.)

As for the ratings thing, I tend to note anything I think is R. I have only just realized that the difference between a 14A in Canada and a R in the US is a very, very fine one.

I wouldn't call myself an expert on ratings, but I think using any variant on the word "fuck" is likely to bump the rating up to R for a movie/Mature for television.
Loved your stories!
