Leaving Town by Cherry (R)

Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] cherryice
Author Website: Cherry Bombs

Why this must be read:
I tend to like the happy due South stories, because a) I like feeling good after reading a story and b) there are so many happy dS stories. But the way Cherry handled this post-CotW breakup story was exactly the way I believe Ray and Fraser would break up, if things didn't work out. I've read stories that alluded to Ray not being able to deal with living up North or not being a cop, but this one seemed viscerally, palpably real, full of details that made me wince in empathy because I've been going through a divorce, and breakups are on my mind. Cherry made it hurt so good that I can't do more than wince.

(Cherry doesn't assign her stories ratings; I gave this one an R for language.)

Oh my goodness. Thank you ever so much for the recs. I'm kind of blown away and you're much too kind.

As for the ratings thing, I tend to note anything I think is R. I have only just realized that the difference between a 14A in Canada and a R in the US is a very, very fine one.

No, no, it's all good. *G* I'm just used to a different classification system. I don't think of a few uses of 'fuck' as bumping things up to an R -- unless it's something that's very frequent, or there's really graphic imagery. For example, the Matrix movies only pulled a 14A here, instead of an R. It's something I'll keep in mind for the future. Thank you.

Thank you again for the recs. You're much too kind. *G*
