This is one of the few times I'm going to say I hope this isn't art mimicking life, except that I kinda hope it is. I hope they love each other this much, I hope they can rely on each other this much, but I damn well don't hope they're this close to despair.

Despair, yeah, but then Angie makes it all better with humour and hope at the end -- I'll not spoil the joke for you, but the last line makes me cross my fingers. The writing is simple and realistic, and the whole thing eminently, terribly believable.
