Why this must be read: When I checked the previous Smallville recs, I was surprised but thrilled to discover that this wasn't yet listed, as it's one of my all time favourite stories and it's such a joy to share it. The author calls "Sleep While I Drive" schmoopy, but it's not. It's a dreamy, surreal roadtrip, full of fascinating emotional undercurrents that will seduce you and keep you reading for hours. It's about all the ways that Lex needs to become his own person, but can't as long as he's Lionel's boy. It's about Clark learning that trust isn't what his father says it is, but a decision he has to make himself. And yes, it's about love.

wow I can't beleive this hasn't been recced before. Sleep While I Drive is one of my all time favorites. The pacing is fantastic, isn't it? Good rec choice.

Omigod. About time. I re-read this fic every six months, it's still my yardstick for the bestest Clex ever. My god, it breaks me and puts me together every single time and this Lex is exactly how I would have wanted him.

Even though I don't watch the show anymore and couldn't be farther removed from the fandom, I always come back to this story. There's something about it that's just so moving and brilliant, something that's so JENN. She's definitely one of my favorites.

Jenn is very talented, isn't she? I love her SGA too. And her X-Men. But Sleep While I Drive is a particular favourite.
