Why this must be read: If you know me, you know I feel that there aren't nearly enough Firefly/Farscape crossovers to go around. The last multiverse ficathon helped that somewhat, but still, more are needed. So of course, I'm reccing a Farscape/Firefly crossover.

Detours: Perdition Redux is a very fun and appropriate to both fandoms. Knowledge of both isn't necessary, but helpful for some inside jokes. In this story, Shan throws Captain Malcolm Reynolds and John Crichton together in the Firefly 'Verse as they battle against one of the big-bads of that said 'Verse. Afterward, John finally gets in some of that human male bonding he's been looking for so much (no, no slash to be had here. Sorry).

Till recently, this was one of the few crossovers of these two 'Verses. Even now, it's an oldie-but a goodie that is enjoyable to revisit.

What I love about this story is how the two universes converge on that speck of landscape with Mal and John both become very human. I like Mal's POV of John since John is so alien and yet so human. There is more than a whiff of melancholy and yet hope here. The voices are spot on.

LOL...well till the most recent multiverse ficathon, there were only about three or four. But alot of them got written for that ficathon...I don't have the link, but I think someone linked it in the comments for one of the posts that neural clone made recently (look on my user page for him).

I just read this story for the first time and I'm really in awe. The story's premise, the language and dialog, the characterizations, are all just ideal. This was a treat. Thank you so much for recc'ing.
