The Archer by legomyarrow (NC-17)

Hiya *waves* [livejournal.com profile] denyce36 here & I’m definitely excited to be driving the van for lotrips this month. As I started to go through the list of what was already recommended and what hasn’t I discovered a slew of my personal favorites haven’t been, so that’s what I’ll be recommending this month. So look for a mix bag of AU, hobbits/elf, and men for your reading pleasure, hopefully you’ll find a few as enjoyable and worthy as I do :-)

Fandom: LOTRIPS
Pairing: Multiple pairings between: Viggo, Orlando, Sean B, Karl, Dominic, Eric Bana, & Dave

Why this must be read: First let's start with the summary: Six covert operatives are ordered to track down and eliminate a rogue agent called the Archer. Spies, traitors, and explosives...

If that doesn't intrigue you let me just add a few things--great dialog, a thick twisting plotline, humor, mystery, & sex. The Archer is lusciouly long and complete. With an added prequel 'Wilderness of Mirrors' and an immediate sequel of 'The Flag' with a longer sequel is in the works, but (prequel/sequels) were written after the Archer was complete and can stand alone. Be prepared for one long delicious adventuerous rollercoaster of a ride.

The explosion was by no means earth shattering, but the sound of it coming through both the earpiece and echoing through the forest caused the adrenaline to rush through Sean’s body at warp speed all the same.

“Jesus! What the fuck did he blow up this time?” Viggo questioned in exasperation, not sounding all too concerned.

“Hope it wasn’t Karl,” Sean responded flatly as he unconsciously lifted his chin and sniffed at the air. It smelled like snow. He could hear Orlando and Dominic jibbering in his ear, and Viggo was saying something about Eric being mentally unstable, but Sean was watching the birds fly over the trees and trying to figure out where the explosion had come from. He turned to look in the direction from which the birds were flying away and pressed the earpiece further into his ear. “Karl? Eric?”

There was an uneasy silence as they waited for an answer, and finally there was a cough and a muffled curse.

“Lads?”

More curses and sounds of a scuffle ensued. Sean exhaled in relief and let his tense muscles relax.

“Hope Karl kicks his ass,” Viggo muttered as he shielded his eyes against the setting sun. “Crazy fuck.”

Sean gave Viggo a worried glance, but he had to admit that he was thinking close to the same thing. That big bastard was going to blow them all to Hell before this assignment was over. He had to come up with a way of controlling him, and quick.

The sounds of struggle died out and Sean could imagine the two men lying on the ground, staring blankly at the sky and breathing heavily. He could hear them breathing, anyway.

“If these things will stand up to a blast and a tussle in the dirt then they’re okay with me,” Sean said happily, tapping his ear to let Viggo know that he was talking about the earpieces and not their two companions. Viggo nodded solemnly and watched the squawking flock of birds soar overhead. Sean thought about reminding him to close his mouth, but then decided that the serious American wouldn’t think it was funny. “What do we think then, lads?” he finally asked of the rest of them. “Continue walking or trust that these gadgets work and go home before Eric sets the whole of North Dakota on fire?”
