Why this must be read:
Ivan Vorpatril meeting the crew of Serenity is guaranteed to be culture-clashing fun. This is the second of two Vorkosigan crossover stories written for the Multiverse Crossover Ficathon 2005 (the other one is Ekphugion by fourteenlines, which has already been rec'd). I found this story delightful for the way it integrated two universes without twisting either out of recognition, and all the characters seemed like themselves. She did a great job of capturing the fun side of the Firefly 'verse, which can be grim most of the time, while still acknowledging the human struggle to survive with grace with the ending of the story.

I absolutely adored this story -- Ivan's my favorite character (just edging out Mark) and it's good to see him shine. Sure, he's often the stupidest person in the room. But usually that room also contains Miles, Aral, Cordelia, Gregor, Simon.... *g*

Thank you :D And yes, I think it's not so much that Ivan is stupid, it's that he gets compared to incredibly astoundingly brilliant people. And I don't think he wants to be one of them. He *likes* being a sidekick.
