Aftermath by Seldear (PG-13)
Hi! I'm
mtgat and I'm driving the Justice League van this month. The fandom overview can be found here. The show has moved on since the first overview and there are a few highlights you might like to know before jumping into the fandom.
Justice League finished its run with "Starcrossed" and was rebooted as Justice League Unlimited a few months later. The original core cast remained the same (with the exception of Hawkgirl, who left, came back, and now goes by Shayera Hol) but League membership expanded to over fifty new members, all drawn from characters both popular and obscure in DC Comics and previous Timm-animated DC properties. Notable new heroes included (but were not limited to) Green Arrow, Supergirl, Vixen, Black Canary, Huntress, and the Question. Plotwise, the government no longer trusted the superpowered beings who protected the world, the villains saw organization as a great idea and ran with it, and Batman Beyond was established as the canon future of the animated universe. Characterwise, the curveballs thrown by canon to the established (and new) relationships were at least as wacky as anything fanfic ever thought up. It was a tights-wearing, bodyswitching, cloning, time-travelling, reincarnating (or not), boom-tubing, ape-shagging, paternity-discovering, universe-hopping, age-reverting, torch-singing, pig-chasing, raising from the dead good time. And after this month, I hope you'll think so, too.
On with the recs!
Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE
Pairing: Superman/Wonder Woman, Batman/Wonder Woman, Superman/Lois Lane

Why this must be read:
My first rec this month is a gateway 'fic. Sel mixes comics and animated continuities brilliantly here, taking what seems like a natural pairing, Superman and Wonder Woman, and showing the consequences of that coupling on their friendship and other relationships. Sel doesn't pull punches. She describes this as a purge 'fic, and it feels that way while reading, but like any purge, the reader feels better afterward for having gone through it. If you're coming in from the comics, or even if you've only just seen Superman Returns, this 'fic is a good place to go for an initial taste of animated fanfic. (And remember that feedback makes the world a happier place!)
