Fandom: DC Universe (Justice League) Pairing: Batman/Flash (Bruce/Wally) Length: 1,344 Rating: PG Warnings: general spoilers for the cartoon, brief mention of character death Author on LJ: Author's Website: AlphaKantSpell on AO3Summary: Like everyone, Wally assumed Bruce's daemon was a bat. It fit the whole persona, the costume, and the creature of the night routine. Wally should have known Bruce would never be what people expected he was. Why this must be read: I've stumbled across a few stories that make Bruce's daemon something dangerous, which I completely understand, but this story gives us Bruce with a daemon that's something unexpected. Bruce's psychology has always fascinated me, and AlphaKantSpell goes into it just enough here to show how much it takes for him to let someone in. I'd never read Bruce/Wally before (I stick to Bruce/Joker usually), but I found this to be a great one-shot about how someone as upbeat as Wally could affect Bruce. The fic is told entirely from Wally's perspective as he tries to figure out what Bruce's daemon is. It's a terrific plot device that gives us insight into both of them. As with most DC fic, a general idea of the characters is enough to follow along. This is written specifically to follow the Justice League cartoon, but I've never seen an episode and I had no trouble. This was written in a way that really had me understanding Wally--a character I tend to overlook. If you're a fan of the Flash in any form, definitely check this one out. To Know and Be Known

PSA: The comics fandom Crack Van needs more drivers! PLEASE go sign up here or it might go away as a Monthly Fandom. Fandom: DC COMICS Pairing: Bruce/Clark Length: 5,300 words Author on LJ: jij, mithenAuthor Website: on AO3Why this must be read:This is an older story in the fandom, but still cute and fun. Superman is turned into a dog until his true love recognizes him. How cute is that?!?! Also, Batman baby-talking a puppy. Fandom: COMICS (notably DC Universe, DC Animated Universe - Young Justice continuity, and Global Frequency) Pairing: none Length: 2,568 words Author on LJ: amaresuAuthor Website: amaresu on AO3, amaresu's fic on LJWhy this must be read:Global Frequency is one of those comics that works well with just about ANYTHING. It is also one of the few comics I go back and reread on occasion (and I watch my copy of the unaired pilot episode of the stillborn show based on it, BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME). I love this story because it is about Miranda Zero recruiting... and everyone who has read GF knows how fun THAT always is. In this case, she's recruiting heroes... and it is her reasons for recruiting and the reactions of her recruits that make this a fantastic little story. It had me grinning, anyway. Title: Curfew Must Not Ring Tonight Author: freddylloydCharacters: The early Teen Titans (Robin, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, and Aqualad), their allies (Speedy/Roy Harper and Beast Boy), and the Justice League of America (Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and Black Canary). Length: 22 comics pages Author Website: LJ Tags Why this must be read:For crossover day, I had no problem picking this utterly on point saga of the Teen Titans as they emerged from the primordial soup of DC, with characterizations gleaned from later incarnations of the group. Join with me in reading this nostalgic adventure with full-on 60's atmosphere, from Robin and Wonder Girl dancing The Swim to Roy Harper wearing a turtleneck and blazer. It's fun and exciting and the possible addition of the writer's sketches just adds to the allure, though this story is complete in script form. Curfew Must Not Ring Tonight

Title: That Guy and That Other Guy by vinniebatman Pairing: John McClane/Matt Farrell Length: 5,518 words Author on LJ: vinniebatmanAuthor Website: LJ Memories - Writing EntriesWhy this must be read:This is an amusing Die Hard AU, a crossover with with DC Universe/Justice League, and the sheer novelty of that combination is what first caught my attention. Then the summary was irresistible: John McClane becomes the new Green Lantern, and Matt Farrell AKA the Flash, develops a crush. And when I read the story, I was struck by how apt the crossover roles turned out--the choice worked with the canon characters of both guys. That Guy and That Other Guy

Title: The Justice League Of Cardiff Is A Stupid Name Fandom: Torchwood/Justice League Characters: Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper, Ianto Jones, Clark Kent (Superman), Bruce Wayne (Batman) Author on LJ: sam_storytellerAuthor Website: FicWhy this must be read: The author's summary pretty much sums this up. Superman is evil and Batman wants to know why Torchwood's agents don't wear capes. It is crack of the finest variety. Excerpt: "He's an alien," Jack Harkness said, standing in front of the clear plexi wall of the Torchwood incarceration cell. "He's the last of his kind. So they say, anyway. His planet was destroyed in a cataclysm, and he was the only one spared." "We seem to have a lot of those," Ianto volunteered, arms crossed, also regarding the alien. "He looks human. Weird, but human." "Easy to say when he's not destroying any major city centres," Jack said. The man on the narrow bunk stirred briefly, then settled back into slumber. A small green stone set into the restraint collar around his neck winked gently in the dim light. "You see news stories about him sometimes," Ianto continued, drawing closer. "The Man of Steel. Reckon if they didn't have them they'd need Torchwood, what with all the mischief Metropolis seems to fall into." "Point taken," Jack said, and it was: Ianto was subtly reminding him that with Superman in a cell in Torchwood's underground lair, Metropolis was more or less laid bare for the taking. Oh, there were a handful of others who could help, but Superman was out. And Batman was apparently missing from Gotham, which may or may not have been coincidence; given Superman had attacked Gotham, who knew if Batman was even alive. Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE ANIMATED Pairing/Characters: All the Justice League, with a focus on an OC, but no pairings Length: One-Shot Author on LJ: n/a Author Website: ff.net accountAuthor Summary: Batman brings a new recruit into the JLA ... but there's something he doesn't know ...Why this must be read: Okay, I know, I'm reccing an OC!fic. But there's a reason for that, because the OC? She's hella awesome in that not-a-Mary-Sue kind of way. That's right people, an OC who doesn't outshine the other heroes, who isn't well liked by all, and who doesn't even have one hero fall madly in love with her. And all the other characters are amazingly IC too! Her name is Kelly Bryson, and she's a complete surprise to the League, but in a way that's completely different from anything you may have seen before. I can't tell you why because that'd ruin the fun, but suffice to say that Tullberg kicks things out to where most people wouldn't think of going. The fic's a treasure that you shouldn't miss. (Go read it if only for the surprise twist!) Go read it.

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE ANIMATED Pairing/Characters: Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, sort-of-OC Length: One-Shot Author on LJ: mtgatAuthor Website: ff.net accountAuthor Summary: PostRotJ. Everyone thinks Jason has two mommies. Why this must be read: Technically, the Return of the Joker is a Batman Beyond movie, but what with Batman Beyond being part of the JL:Animated'verse, I'll assume it's within my rights to rec this fic. Because it's completely worth the read. Written from the POV of Jason, son of Harley Quinn, we get a story that I don't think has ever been told before. It's haunting at some points and pretty funny at others, but mostly (to me), it's warming. Even from tragedy, there are some good things. ( Try a bit )Read and enjoy.

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE ANIMATED Pairing/Characters: Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Batman, Superman Length: One-Shot Author on LJ: n/a Author Website: ff.net accountAuthor Summary: Lex Luthor would only be the first of many villains whose lives were changed forever by the Justice Lords. This is the story of how Poison Ivy became the woman the Flash saw on the grounds of Arkham. Why this must be read: The Justice Lords canon is a pretty simple canon!AU. It's a dark universe that diverges when the Flash is killed by Lex Luthor. The rest of the JLA fall from heroes to ruthless dictator lords of the country (world?). This fic is set in Gotham, at the beginning of the Justice Lords divergence. It's set in Poison Ivy's POV, and is an explanation for the way the Lords universe is set up. I'm reccing it because it makes Ivy more than just 'that slutty plant girl', and because there are parts that shake me, though I'm not quite sure why. Possibly it's because of the way that the title ties in to the plot. Quoth the Author's Note: "Lotus Eaters" is a reference to the people in the Odyssey who ate the lotus blossoms and lost all interest in home and family, wanting only to go on eating for the rest of their lives. It's here.

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE ANIMATED Pairing/Characters: Lex Luthor, Mercy Graves, Braniac, Piper, Two-Face, Joker Length: One-Shot Author on LJ: Author Website: ff.net accountAuthor Summary: They all have their niches, and they will always fill them. But if they didn’t, if they went outside those lines drawn in the sand…Why this must be read: The best thing about comics is that there are good guys and bad guys, and the good guys always win, right? But what would have happened if the bad guys had acted just a little differently? amarin_rose gives us five quick peeks into some 'what-if' situations. My favourites, personally, are the last two, simply because they're chillingly possible (even probable) in canon. Find it here.

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE ANIMATED Pairing/Characters: Hawk, Dove Length: One-Shot Author on LJ: n/a Author Website: ff.net accountAuthor Summary: They’re having their old pacifism versus activism argument again. These kinds of conversations never end well. Or begin well, come to think of it.Why this must be read: Hawk and Dove (Hank and Don Hall) represent that common archetype of 'two siblings who work together using powers that represent opposite forces', but they take it to an extreme. Hawk is bent on the idea that 'the best defense is a good offense', while Dove prefers to work by believing that 'an eye for an eye, and the whole world goes blind'. So while their powers are fairly similar (increased strength and agility), it's their beliefs that make their methods complete opposites. I'll admit that I never fell in love with Hawk and Dove as much as I have with other characters, but there was just something about this fic that resonated. Scarabbug takes a post-superhero-crisis situation uses it to create multi-leveled conversation between two heroes with antagonistic moral satndpoints, and two brothers that are trying desperately to figure each other out. Like in real life, the problem never really gets resolved, but in some ways, it feels like it has been. I'd add a snippet in, but the whole fic is really a jewel. So just go read it.

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE ANIMATED Pairing/Characters: Huntress/The Question Length: One-Shot Author on LJ: Personal Journal: cold_queen_5, Fic Journal: cold_ficAuthor Website: none Author Summary: Huntress and Question argue about dinner. Why this must be read: The idea of the vigilante superhero is at once inspiring and frightening. One one hand, you have a superhuman being who's above law enforcement and on the other... well, you have to wonder how much you can trust someone who's beyond the reaches of the law. The Huntress and The Question are both superheroes who straddle that moral line between 'good' and 'evil', the latter having ( Spoilers ) They're also in a canon relationship, something you wouldn't really expect when pairing an obsessive, faceless conspiracy theorist with a crossbow-shooting, Gothamite femme fatale. Even more surprising, the pairing's cute and also rather effective. cold_queen_5 shows us how it works, mixing Huntress's snark and Question's never-ending conspiracy theories into an innocently ordinary situation to create something comedic, amusing and humanizing. ( And if my commentary hasn't convinced you, yet, try a snippet of the fic. )Now go read it.

Hi everyone! I'm toast and I'm driving the Justice League Animatedverse van this month. The fandom overview's here if you need some background, and at the beginning of mtgat's run, there's some extra context here. This month, I'll be trying to pick fic that's got a focus on characters/pairings that don't get quite as much love from the fandom, so maybe they'll get a little more attention sometime, mm? Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE ANIMATED Pairing/Characters: J'onn J'onzz (Martian Manhunter), Wally West (The Flash) Length: One-Shot Author on LJ: Personal Journal: voleuse, Fic Journal: moodficAuthor Website: Here (It's not up at the moment, though) Author Summary: Air fills the lungs with laughter and sharp salt. Why this must be read: So you know who Batman and Wonderwoman and Superman are, right? And maybe you also know about the Flash and the Green Lantern, cultural symbols that they are ( "The fastest man alive" ring any bells for you?). But the Martian Manhunter gets shafted just a little bit, possibly due to his lack of an identifying symbol (even Aquaman has one!) In any case, this is a little introspective piece looking into J'onn's head as he takes a break from his duties in the League. Voleuse gives us a peek into the mind of a man who has lost his home and who can't quite seem to find his place in the new world that stands before him. It could have been frightfully angsty, but underneath the loneliness, there's a hope and an inkling of joy. Read it here

Hey, all. It's been a great month. I hope you've enjoyed the stories I've recommended as much as I have. If your curiosity has been piqued, Justice League is available on DVD, and Justice League Unlimited will be available in October. Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: Batman / Flash Author on LJ: shriftAuthor Website: Shrift's FanfictionWhy this must be read:My last rec for the month is a bit of a cheat; I was hoping not to rec the same author twice so as to give a better view of the breadth of the fanfic. However, this story is worth it. "The same grim giving" revolves around a favorite plot cliché: sex pollen. (It was the central plot contrivance in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," for example.) Like most sex pollen fics, it's short and sweet and hot and as a bonus, funny. It's a good treat to end the month on. Once upon a time, there was a Big Bad Bat and a kid in a red suit who drove him crazy but whom he liked anyway. "Sex. Gay sex. Gay sex with Batman . Cats and dogs living together. The world was insane. Maybe he should order a pink suit."The same grim giving

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: Wonder Woman / Hawkgirl Author on LJ: corbeaunAuthor Website: dissonanceWhy this must be read:This is an odd rec for me to make. This story shouldn't work. The context has been rendered completely AU by canon, the characters in the pairing canonically get along "like oil and water," and also one of the characters' names is spelled wrong throughout the piece. But it works, somehow it works, and it's lovely and sad and while I've at least glanced at most of the femslash in the fandom, this is the only one that has ever made me believe HG/WW as a potential pairing. This is a story that not only overcomes its own flaws, but makes the rest of the text seem even sweeter in comparison. ( Read more... )Rite of Confirmation

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: none (Hawkgirl and Vixen) Author on LJ: voleuseAuthor Website: A Work in ProgressWhy this must be read:Once upon a time, two superheroes fell hard for each other, shagged like bunnies, and broke up spectacularly. Lantern moped around for a bit, then started dating a supermodel voiced by Gina Torres; shortly thereafter, Hawkgirl rejoined the League. The two women developed a touchy but fascinating relationship over the rest of the series. They were both strong, intelligent, gorgeous, and emotionally involved with the same man, but they managed to form a solid, even teasing, friendship. Fanfic has not been as good to Vixen as canon has. She is often portrayed as whiny, conniving, and overall "less worthy" of Lantern's affections. "In Glass Houses" is a rare, wonderful piece that gives Vixen her own voice, as she tries to come to terms with this other woman in her lover's life. voleuse writes brief snapshots from her POV, presenting without dwelling, giving just enough detail to sketch a portait hinting at rich detail. Vidder: Dragonchic Musical artist: Full Blown Rose Pairing: none (Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl) Vidder on LJ: bananainpyjamasVidder's website: Modern MythologyWhy this vid kicks ass:There aren't many vids in JL fandom. Of the vidders we do have, bananainpyjamas is way ahead of the pack. All her vids are sharp, clean, well-matched to music and format, and timed within milliseconds. Really, if you want to get a taste of great JLU music vids, go by her LJ and check them all out. I chose this vid above the rest because I am heavily biased and adore the women in my canon beyond the telling of it. "In the Light" focuses on Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl, the two females in the original League. They've had a contentious relationship throughout the run of the series, which flows very naturally from the characters' similarities and differences. Dragonchic uses this vid fluidly, exploring that relationship, contrasting and comparing them with the song lyrics and chosen clips. It's a gorgeous video, and it makes me glad to see we have such a talented vidder in our fandom. Definitely worth the download. In the Light

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: gen Author on LJ: maragAuthor Website: Diversions and DigressionsWhy this must be read:Once upon a time, there was an episode of Justice League where we discovered the League consisted of seven people who kinda hated each other a lot, and kinda wanted to shag one another, and were generally not pleased to be together. There was a telepathic ape involved. Really. (I was not joking about the "ape-shagging" in the fandom summary.) At the end of the episode, they decided to work together anyway, but with it spoken aloud that they still resented one another a lot. In this story, Mara follows up that incident. The bruised egos are still there, and no one knows if things will work out, but they're going to try. In this series of short vignettes, the League reconnects in pairs, not in a romantic way but in a way they need. Secrets, Societies, and Truths

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: Diana / Audrey Author on LJ: thecryingwillowAuthor Website: FF.net profileWhy this must be read:Once upon a time, there was an episode called "Maid of Honor," in which Princess Diana met Princess Audrey and they bonded immediately. They went shopping. They went dancing. They parted at sunrise on the top of the Eiffel Tower. Then Audrey married someone else and Diana threw a tank through the church wall at the "Does anyone here object" part. The subtext? Not very subtle. As I've mentioned before, there exists a canonical AU in Justice League canon, dubbed the Lorderverse. In this story, June examines the alternate universe Diana and the alternate universe Audrey, and what they have together in a world where Diana and her friends control everything. Heartbreaking and brittle, this is a short (2000 words) look at what might have been. ( Read more... )Might Still Shine Bright

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED Pairing: gen (hints of Bruce/Wally) Author on LJ: dotficAuthor Website: FF.net profileWhy this must be read:Once upon a time, Wally West saved the world. At the end of JLU's Cadmus Arc, Lex Luthor very nearly destroyed life, the universe, and everything, and Wally became one with the Speed Force and kicked Lex's ass righteously. Then he almost died and the others brought him back, and it was all good, the end. Except at the end of the episode, Wally said that he'd never gone that fast before and never could again if he wanted to live. Suddenly the Fastest Man Alive had a speed limit. In "Atomic Time," Dot takes Wally just post-saving-the-world and explores what it would mean to him to know that his superpower might kill him. Dot strikes the perfect balance between the man we've seen, and the man he probably became afterwards, with Bruce keeping a close watch all the while. ( Read more... )Atomic Time

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: Hawkgirl / Green Lantern Author on LJ: xffan_2000Author Website: XFFan_2000's Justice League FanfictionWhy this must be read:As I said in my last rec, choosing just one story to rec for this pairing was very hard, so here's the second. This story takes place in that same wonderful time period in which the couple in question were shagging like bunnies, and explores the problems --- and pleasures --- of interspecies dating. Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: Hawkgirl / Green Lantern Author on LJ: ingrid_mAuthor Website: Ingrid's Justice League FanficWhy this must be read:Once upon a time, there were two animated superheroes who sniped and snarked at each other for two seasons, then shagged one another stupid for a bit, and finally broke up spectacularly over the fact that she was a spy whose people were planning on turning the planet into a hyperspace bypass (and also she was engaged to someone else). If you're into that sort of thing, it was glorious. This is my 'ship and I love it to pieces, so choosing just one or two stories to trumpet its coolness to the world is as difficult as it is fun. In this story, Ingrid describes the first morning John and Shayera spend together after finally admitting their mutual attraction. The prose is lyrical without being sappy, and the characters are spot-on. This was one of the earliest adult stories to feature this pairing, and it remains one of the best-written pieces about the two of them. ( Read more... )The First Day of the Rest of Your Life

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: Diana/Bruce, Lois/Clark Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: JLA Unlimited ProfileWhy this must be read:Every fandom should have a 'fic set in a superhero fetish club called The Hall of Justice. Really. New fandom rule. This story is hot, and sweet, and very funny. I can't even quote from it without spoiling some of the best lines, but let me repeat: Fetish Club. Superheroes. It's a winning combination. Under Cover

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: Huntress/Question Author on LJ: kerikeriAuthor Website: JLA Unlimited profileWhy this must be read:Hands-down, the quirkiest 'ship in JLU canon has to be Huntress/Question. She's a barely-clad vigilante with a crossbow and a chip on her shoulder. He's a paranoid conspiracy-nut without a face. Together, they fight crime. The 'ship is like the little black dress of the fandom: I've talked to die-hard anti-canon people who squee whenever H/Q is mentioned even in passing. As you might guess by the title, "How the Question Stole Christmas" is a comedic piece, which works very well for this pairing. Helena is at her snarky best, trying hard not to kill the man she loves, while Vic brings his ... special ... view of reality to one of the biggest mysteries of the holiday season: where does that man in the red suit get all his wonderful toys? Title:Twenty Truths by Akino-Ame Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED Pairing: multiple Author on LJ: akino_ameAuthor Website: FF.net profileWhy this must be read:Back when JLU was still Justice League, speculation abounded whether or not Batman Beyond was the canonical future, or just one possible future. The producers sat back and grinned and said non-specific things. Then the episode "The Once and Future Thing" aired, and the followup "Epilogue," which not only sealed the deal, bur served as a possibly unique case of the season finale of one show being used as the series finale of another. "Twenty Truths" is a deft little story that blends the pieces we saw in "TOaFT" and "Epilogue," and merges them with what we saw in the Batman Beyond episode "The Call." The story is a series of twenty short pieces, none of them longer than about two hundred words, each a perfect little picture of the BB world as would have echoed from the events in JLU. The one truth to take away from the story is that cycles repeat, and sometimes this is a wonderful thing. Twenty Truths

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: implied Harley/Joker, Harley/Ivy Author on LJ: harriet_spyAuthor Website: sometimes you need a storyWhy this must be read:This is another story set in the Lorderverse, which to refresh your memory, is the alternate universe where everything went wrong. In "A Better World," we saw the fates of several Bat villains: Joker, Ivy, Two-Face and others, but not Harley Quinn. "Day 812" takes place just as ABW has ended, and shows a chilling but perfect picture of What Probably Happened Next. ( Excerpt )Day 812
|
Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: gen Author on LJ: fresneAuthor Website: Life Am GoodWhy this must be read:Once upon a time, there was an episode of Justice League called "A Better World," wherein the League fought with their own dark selves, the Justice Lords. The episode resonated with the writers and the fandom, so much so that it served as the phantom structure arcing over much of the next two seasons of JLU. Also, it led to a lot of amazing fanfic. Once upon a time, there was a series called Static Shock which was to JL what Angel was to Buffy only not quite, and it detailed the adventures of one Virgil Hawkins, a teenaged boy with electrical powers. Picture if you will a fifteen year old geeky comics fan who suddenly has superpowers and occasionally gets to hang out with Batman and Superman. In one crossover, the League approached him to ask him to help power the Watchtower. "Freefall" is a short 'fic (500 words) set in the Lorderverse in which we discover the fate of that world's Virgil. I read this story before seeing a single episode of Static Shock and it chilled me to the bone; after having inhaled the series, it still does. Fresne has a poet's gift with words and description, and what she presents here is frighteningly plausible, given what we saw in ABW. Once upon a time, the Justice Lords needed a battery too. Freefall

Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: Green Lantern / Flash Author on LJ: shrift and thete1Author Website: Teland and shrift's fan fictionWhy this must be read:Back when the show was still known as simply Justice League, the slash pairing that ate the fandom was Green Lantern / Flash, better known as John/Wally. And what's not to love? Wally West's Flash is brash, inexperienced, quick to anger and even quicker to kindness. He was and is the fandom woobie. John Stewart is his polar opposite: former Marine and still a member of the GL Corps, tough as nails and straight as a line. Put them together, and sparks fly. Shrift and Te? Get this. Really really well. In all their stories, they take the sparks that canon allowed us, and let them create something very hot. "Screwed" is one of the best examples of this. By turns hilariously in character and amazingly porny, we see of glimpse of how it could have started between the two men, as we also find out who really brought the Twinkies aboard the Watchtower. ( An excerpt, NSFW )Screwed

Hi! I'm mtgat and I'm driving the Justice League van this month. The fandom overview can be found here. The show has moved on since the first overview and there are a few highlights you might like to know before jumping into the fandom. ( The high points. )Fandom: JUSTICE LEAGUE Pairing: Superman/Wonder Woman, Batman/Wonder Woman, Superman/Lois Lane Author on LJ: seldearAuthor Website: The Dragonborn.net ( FF.net profile) Why this must be read:My first rec this month is a gateway 'fic. Sel mixes comics and animated continuities brilliantly here, taking what seems like a natural pairing, Superman and Wonder Woman, and showing the consequences of that coupling on their friendship and other relationships. Sel doesn't pull punches. She describes this as a purge 'fic, and it feels that way while reading, but like any purge, the reader feels better afterward for having gone through it. If you're coming in from the comics, or even if you've only just seen Superman Returns, this 'fic is a good place to go for an initial taste of animated fanfic.
