Five things that never happened to John Crichton. I never cease to love this device, especially when it's done well; here is no exception.

Don't think about it now, though. Take another whiff, just to be sure. Burns a path straight to your brain. World becomes indistinct, too bright, too blurry. Hand in front of your face; it moves of its own volition, seemingly warping time on a whim, trailing after itself. Drowning in a sea of feathers, wrapped in cotton wool, cotton candy, light and empty as you are inside. Head's floating away, and you grasp lamely after it. Never like this before, but then again, never taken this much before. Never felt the desperate need. Can't remember why you feel it, but it's there.
