Unlikely Allies by pixie_on_acid (PG-13)

Well, this is my last rec. Hope you all enjoyed the fic!

Why this must be read:

In NCIS fandom we know how Kate, McGee, and Ziva all became members of Gibbs's team, but we've never been told how or why Tony, who has been with Gibbs the longest, joined up. In fact, the writers seem to enjoy teasing us with it: when Kate asks how Tony got his job, all he says is "I smiled" and when Ziva asks McGee how he joined, she starts off by saying, "I know Tony's story" but she never says what that story is. After three years, we still have no idea how Gibbs and Tony met or why Gibbs recruited Tony.

Naturally, the fans can't resist their own theories of how Gibbs and Tony met. I think this version is my favorite. It features Gibbs investigating a potentially dirty cop, Tony as the Internal Affairs detective on the same case, and a bunch of detectives who very subtly try to undermine their working relationship.

But [livejournal.com profile] pixie_on_acid doesn't settle for a genuinely interesting plot full of tension, Gibbs and Tony both perfectly in character, and some lines that will make you grin and chuckle. No, she also casually throws in an explanation for why Tony only lasted two years or less with three different police departments before NCIS and she gives my personal favorite description of Tony's interrogatin style.

This is definitely a story you don't want to miss.

Thanks for the recs this month! I've only started watching NCIS this month so your recs have been very helpful in wading through fandom.
