Why this must be read: Because we're starting a new season next week and this fic elegantly captures and puts into words one of the best aspects of the show: the deep and abiding friendship between House and Wilson. This is an extremely well-written novella by any set of standards, and this fandom doesn't have many good, long fics. This fic takes more investment in terms of time and effort to read, but it's well worth it.

What a great read! You're right, there aren't nearly enough long, slow stories in this fandom, and watching House and Wilson develop as people as well as friends was a real treat.
